A Spring Storm

A storm rolled in this afternoon so I decided to open the french doors that lead onto our screened porch so we could listen to the rain. The storm started off light, but I knew it was going to get heavy because we were under a tornado warning and it had been hailing in the city it hit before. Eli wandered out to the porch to investigate... and one thing led to another...
Enjoying watching the rain fall...
Sucking the rain water off of the dirty screen...
Noticing the mud in the corner...
Heading towards the mud in the corner...
Eating the mud from the corner...
He was so dirty I decided to just strip him and let him play in the rain...
Splashing...
Spontaneous kisses...I'm lucky to have caught this! He was running towards me saying, "muah, muah!" So I knew I was about to get a wet, muddy kiss!
Here I am, tucked dryly away under a huge umbrella. I'm sure my neighbors thought I was crazy to let my son run around in his diaper in the rain while I stood under an umbrella snapping pictures...but the rain was so warm and Eli was having so much fun!
All clean now!

Happy Birthday to youuuu...

We just celebrated Jake's 29 + 1 (as he prefers to call it) birthday on Monday. He really wanted to just stay home with the family, eat good food, and open presents! It was a fun night. I asked him what he wanted me to make for his birthday dinner, fully expecting to spend hours in the kitchen preparing a fancy meal (which I do like to do), but he just wanted tacos! My tired pregnant self was thrilled! These aren't just any tacos though, for those of you wondering. If anyone has ever had my mother in law's tacos, they know how good they are! So we gorged on a delicious taco bar (if I don't mind saying so myself), ate cake, and Eli helped rip open all of Jake's presents. We then put Eli to bed and enjoyed a quiet, slothful evening on the couch. What a perfect birthday!

When I asked Jake what kind of cake he wanted, I was again expecting to spend hours on a fancy chocolate cake, because that has been what he has always asked for. He surprised me again by saying he wanted this easy chocolate-peanut butter cake that we had at a friends' house not too long ago. Now I know this isn't the prettiest birthday cake, but it is SO good. It is the moistest, melt in your mouth cake I've ever had. It's making my mouth water just talking about it...
We were at a friends' house the night before for dinner and desert and when they heard it was Jake's birthday the next day they pulled out a candle, stuck it in his strawberry shortcake, and sang happy birthday to him. Eli has never show an interest in blowing out candles before, but after watching their sons blow out their candles, he had to do it too. So here he is, trying to blow out the candles while I sing a solo happy birthday :)

Visiting Daddy at the Office

Now that Jake finally has an office of his own, Eli and I like to stop by to visit every now and then. On our last visit, Eli got a "check up," which he loved. Notice his flip flops: he is obsessed with them. He digs them out of his dresser every morning and then waves them in my face until I put them on him. Luckily I think such little flip flops are cute, so I don't mind! Thanks Annie :)

The Little Lady

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post these! It's been over a month since my ultrasound. I'm 25 weeks now, so I still have awhile left. The tech got some good pictures, so enjoy!
Nice profile, huh?
She's sucking her thumb in this one. Eli always had his thumb in his mouth during the ultrasounds too, but has never sucked his thumb.
The skeletal picture! Not my favorite, but still neat to see how developed she is already.
